I struggled with weight loss all of my life. When I was teenager, I was 30 pounds heavier than I am now. I know what it’s like to wake up in the morning and feel ashamed that I couldn’t fit into my clothes. I wore baggy tops so no one could see that I squeezed myself into my jeans. In total, I’ve gained and lost over 100 pounds in my life. 10 pounds here, 20 pounds there… It’s been a real roller-coaster ride. Finally, I have it figured out!
Like many of you, I wanted to discover the combination to not only losing weight but feeling great, once and for all. Here’s the secret: It’s that you don’t even try. Now, I have to say that with a disclaimer. There are certain things that you have to do. It has to be a lifestyle change. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, without even trying, you have to change what you eat and what you do.
I’ve been teaching group fitness classes since 1980. I’ve been around the block, so to speak, in the fitness industry, teaching everything from Step to Spinning to Zumba and more. Daily exercise is key. Find the thing that makes your heart sing and you’ll do it more often. Walk, run, swim, dance, it doesn’t matter. Mix it up and move every day for at least 15 minutes, preferably 30 or even 60. Make sure you get an even dose of cardio, toning and stretching. Please. You have to make fitness the number one priority in your life.
Next, you’re not going to lose weight and keep it off if you continue to eat bad food. So, just say no to fast food, chemicals and preservatives in your food. Lean towards a plant-based diet. The closer you get to the hoof, the ground, or the tree, the better. The more you process foods and cook it at a higher temperature, the more nutrients you lose.
Do whatever you can to find the things that make your heart sing and fill your day with those experiences as much as you can. If you want to get in shape, lose weight and feel great without dieting, start with the basics like good old fashioned exercise and a healthy diet. This just might help you lose weight without even trying.

Well thank YOU for your kind words!
Yes, it is definitely more difficult to stay in shape after a certain age, & especially after a hysterectomy. I had one a couple years ago & it takes at least a year to start feeling better. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
I’ll be posting more videos for toning soon!
Have a great day!
I am so glad to have found your page! I have followed Mr Nugent on FB for awhile now and when he shared one of your posts today, I clicked over to your FB page. I saw a few of the fitness videos and knew I wanted to see more! I wasn’t over weight as a kid but I sure have fought with it as an adult! Being infertile, enduring several rounds of fertility drugs and finally having our son via c-section really took a toll. The years flew by and while I was privately disgusted with myself and how I looked I also tried to push it to the back of my mind because even when I tried to lose weight I didn’t work and I would be so disappointed in myself. Getting tired of failing, I pretty much gave up trying. Fast forward to this past January and I was blessed with being able to do a review for a healthy eating food plan company. as part of the agreement, in additon to following a no sugar eating plan, I was to walk for 20 minutes a day. It was only for one month, but I could not believe how great I felt with two weeks! Thank was some pretty strong motivation! By the end of that month, I relaized I had not had a single headache, all the joint pain I had been suffering was gone and my emotions were on a more even keel. I lost 12 pounds during that month! When the review was done, I knew I couldn’t afford to subscribe to the plan, but I also knew I could not afford not to keep trying on my own. I had already been walking more than they asked and added in using some small hand dumbells… I lost another 6 pounds the second month. I am currently in the 3rd month of this lifestyle makeover I only weight once, at the end of each month). I still feel terrific. I have added a stability ball and pilates ring to give more exercise variety. I still have moments of weakness and still have cravings, but I remind myself that I don’t want to go back to the way I was before. And I remind myself how good it feels to fit into smaller sized clothes! I’m not where I want to be yet, but I can see it on the horizon and I will get there! I will be watching your page, the videos and learning to do more! Thank you so much for sharing and being such an inspiration!
Congratulations Lisa & thanks for sharing your story! You can inspire so many!
Have a wonderful day & keep up the great work!
